Knights Shutout at NU but Clinch Playoff Berth

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University women broke open a close game for four second half goals as the Eagles defeated Warner Pacific today 5-0. The Knights secured a playoff spot thanks to Evergreen's loss to Concordia today in Olympia. It is the first post-season berth for the Knight women's soccer program since 2007.

The win for Northwest clinches at least a tie for the CCC championship with second place and #3 ranked Concordia coming into town on Saturday. NU has 24 points while Concordia has 21 points.

Tatyana Reveles scored what proved to be the game winner in the 7th minute as she dribbled past a defender on the left side and scored from 15 yards out. That would be the only score of the half as the defenses held one another in check.

Kelsey Greene  then scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute after a foul in the box for the 2-0 lead. At the 61:51 mark, Tiffany Taylor took Acacia Johnson's cross from the right side and put her shot in from the middle 6 yards out. Annie-Brynn Stauffer then scored after the third blocked shot in the 83rd minute as she followed up with her shot and put it past the Warner Pacific goalkeeper.

Acacia Johnson then scored the final goal of the game at the 84:07 mark taking Kelsey Greene's through ball on the right side, beat her defender and finished just inside the 18 yard mark.

Patty Hughes earned the shutout for Northwest U (10-5-1, 8-0 CCC) with 4 saves in goal while keeper, Allie Holterman, had 4 saves for the Knights. NU outshot WPC 14-5 and had 6 corner kicks to WPC's one.

WPC's record stands at 7-8-2, and 4-3-1 in CCC play.
