Overtime is Unkind to Knight Women

PORTLAND, Ore. -  Warner Pacific suffered their third double overtime loss this season with a 2-1 loss at home versus Corban on Saturday night.

The Basics

Score: Corban 2, Warner Pacific 1
 Records: WPC (2-10-3, 1-8-1 CCC), CRB (5-10-1, 2-8 CCC)
Location: Kathryn Damazo Field - Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: Warner Pacific tallied the opening goal, but couldn't make it hold up as the Knights fell in double overtime to visiting Corban. The Warriors got the golden goal with five minutes remaining in extra time, scoring at close range after a corner kick.

How it Happened

• The Knights found the net in the 34th minute off the foot of Cristal Ruvalcaba, who redirected a shot from Brooke Yoshimura into the right corner.
• That lead didn't last long as seven minutes later Lexi McQueary pounced on a wayward back pass to the keeper, then slotted home to equalize the score for Corban.
• With scored knotted at 1-1 the second period was uneventful, with Corban generating four shots compared to WPC's three. Each team earned two corner kicks.
• Cathy Lara had a decent look for WP at the end of regulation, but her open right footed offering from 12 yards went right of the post.
• Corban goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven came up big in the first overtime, snuffing out a breakaway chance by Sitera Allison in the 98th minute.
• The winning goal was Taken by Julia Argakov, who found the ball at her feet after WP keeper Mariah Liebert made an initial save on Olivia Erskine's header.
• Warner Pacific will close out their 2015 season next Saturday versus Eastern Oregon and will honor their senior players.
