Warner Pacific Loses First Two Games in California

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 24th, 2023

Atherton, CA | The Warner Pacific Women's Volleyball squad was in Atherton, California today taking part in the Menlo College Tournament. They played Menlo College at 11:30am and Pacific Union College at 4:40pm.

Game 1
The Knights lost game one to the host school, Menlo College, in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-8, and 25-13. Edita Ljuca led the way for the Knights in the kill category with 5. Hailey Charriere and Autumn Gaboury-Parker had three apiece. Kyla Reiling and Hana Menasco got busy digging the ball with both having six.

Game 2
The Knights lost the second game against Pacific Union College in three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-21. In the last set, the Knights showed a lot of fight getting out to a 19-11 lead. Unfortunately after the Knights took a 20-16 lead, the Pioneers came roaring back to score nine straight points and win the set 25-21. Just like last week in Helena, Montana when the Knights had an 8-1 lead against Rocky Mountain College, the Knights have gotten large leads and haven't been able to hold. Still, the Knights fought very hard and came very close to winning their first set of the season.

Words From Coach
Head Coach, Kim Lissinna, know her team is fighting hard through a lot of adversity. "This team keeps impressing me with their relentless desire to compete," Lissinna said. "We were thrown some obstacles today and we had some players step up in big ways in new roles."

Next Up
The Knights will be in Atherton, California again tomorrow to play their final game of the Menlo College Tournament against Simpson University at 9am.
