Knights Shoot Well; Lose to the Mountaineers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 10th, 2024

La Grande, Ore.| The Knights were in La Grande, Oregon today taking on the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon today and lost 94-76 in front of a solid crowd at Quinn Coliseum.

The Knights had a solid first half playing without their leading scorer, Matt Solomon. The scoring was very spread out with 8 Knights putting points up on the board. Cade Baker led the way with 8 points followed by Collin Oestereich and Mark Wishom who each had 7. They shot an insane 59.3% from the field but unfortunately, they only went 2-8 from distance. Even though the Mountaineers shot only 41.4% from the field in the first half, they went 6-16 from three making the difference in the half. The Knights went into the half down 45-40 and very much looking like they could break the streak.

The second half with a different story than the first. The Knights still shot a solid 50% from the field but they continued to struggle from distance shooting 1-10. The Mountaineers also shot 50% in the second half but hit 9 more threes causing the final score to be very unbalanced.

Even though the Knights shot an amazing 54.4% for the game, the Knights still lost by a large margin due to Eastern Oregon shooting lights out from three.

The Knights were led by Collin Oestereich who finished with 20 points and 4 boards. Moses Maxwell and Cade Baker each had 10 to round out the Knights who had double figures. Sherman Royal III checked in with 9 and Chris Murphy continued his impressive play with 8 points and 4 boards.
