Women's soccer faced a hard loss against NCAA Division III Lewis & Clark College. The Knights were able to score first as Senior Olivia Stumetz found the back of the net in the 17th minute of the game. However, this would be the only time the Knights saw a goal as Lewis & Clark put up five unanswered goals during the remainder of the match.
Even though five shots were able to get past her, Sophomore, Litzy Gonzalez, put her body on the line as she saved 10 other shots on goal throughout the night. Senior, Jordan McLeod, got credited with the assist for Stumetz's early goal. The Knights were also able to play clean soccer as they had no offside penalties and no yellow or red cards awarded against them.
"It's always tough conceding five goals but in the end I was encouraged with our shape and ideas in possession," head coach, Justan Wolvert said. "We got a bit unlucky at times and had several missed opportunities in front of goal that would have changed the complexion of the game. We'll get healthy this week in preparation for a tough opening weekend of conference play."
Women's soccer's next match will be against the Oregon Tech Owls in Klamath Falls. on Friday, September 20th at 12:00pm. The Knights will then continue their road trip to Ashland, OR where they will play the Raiders of Southern Oregon University on Sunday the 22nd.
