FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 4th, 2026

Portland, Ore. | The Warner Pacific University women's soccer team took on Corban University this morning and in a tough battle. The final score was a 1-1 draw.

Warner Pacific gained control almost immediately, taking advantage of early pressure when Katya Tercek found the back of the net in the fifth mintue to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. WPU continued to generate opportunities throughout the remainder of the first half, outshooting the Warriors 9-7 in the opening 45 minutes and taking the lead into the break.
Corban came out aggressively in the second period and found the equalizer in the 54th minute, as Kelli Huskic netted a goal at 53:46 to tie the match at 1-1.

The Knights mounted a fierce response over the final 35 minutes, pumping 11 shots toward the target in the second half. Tercek, Maiyah McDonald, Bethany Villegas, Kylie Warner, Emily Robinett, Gema Granados, Clarisa Lemus, and Annabelle Demmon all forced saves from Corban goalkeeper Jordyn Labajo, but the Warriors held firm under pressure to preserve the draw.

Warner Pacific dominated the offensive battle, holding a commanding 20-12 advantage in total shots and a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams finished with four corner kicks apiece.

Tercek led the Warner Pacific attack with a team-high five shots and three on goal, including the opening tally. Kasia Lopez added three shots, while Lemus, Warner, and Villegas each registered two attempts. In goal, Evelyn Montiel Silva earned the start and logged three saves in 88 minutes of action, with Addison Keegan closing out the final two minutes to seal the result. Keegan got into the game late after an unfortunate situation when Silva committed a foul resulting in an automatic red card. Keegan will get the start in place of Silva next game against Walla Walla.

"We had opportunities to get the results we wanted today however we had a few mistakes that ultimately cost us the win," head coach Greg Pfleger said. "I am proud of how this group competed and responded to adversity. We took four points from the weekend and now we turn our attention to the next challenge. We'll learn from today and keep improving and will be ready for the next game."
