Knights Season Comes To An End Against 2nd Seeded EOU

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 27th , 2025

Salem, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Women's Basketball team played their playoff game against 2nd seeded Eastern Oregon University and took the loss 76-50 .

Tough day on day one of playoffs for the Knights shooting unevenly across the four quarters and finishing without making a three-pointer after the first quarter. Skylar Groesbeck led the Knights with 15 points while Riley Layton added 13 and six rebounds. Despite a solid second quarter, Warner Pacific's offense struggled late scoring just four field goals in the final period as the deficit grew.

The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers were led by Maggie Smith's 15 points on near-perfect shooting while Kali Kast contributed a double-digit rebounding effort with 11 boards to go with 11 points. Eastern Oregon's dominant third quarter was enough to send the Knights home.

"I am proud of this season and what the team accomplished," head coach Jimmy Smith said. "We built throughout the season and found out a ton about ourselves. It hurts to end like this but this was a positive season."

The Knights really played well considering they played a well oiled machine in EOU. They fought hard and never quit. The team ran a lot of sets successfully and played for each other till the bitter end. It is never fun to lose the final game of the year but this game should build momentum for the future with almost the whole team returning next year.

Next Up
The Knights finished the year with a record of 11-17 including a 7-13 conference record. It was one of the better seasons in recent history and momentum is on their side going into the 2026-27 season.
