FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 3rd, 2026
Hillsboro, Ore.| Warner Pacific Knights Baseball began a four-game set against Oregon Tech. The Knights would drop both games to the Owls by final scores of 3-2, and 15-4.
Game One
It was a low scoring game in this one with the game coming down to one inning. This game would start in the Knights favor getting going in the first inning scoring a run of a single. They would add on in the second taking advantage of an error via the Owls scoring a run. Quite a few innings went by until finally things would turn around for the Knights. The Owls would score three runs, the first two coming off a triple, and the last run would come in on a sacrifice fly. Both pitching staffs would stop any more runs from scoring.
Offensively the knights would start hot and would get six hits but not in the right times leaving 11 runners on base not able to cash in on the owls pitching staff. Two hit games from both
Jarrod Seibel and
Mason Deverna. Deverna would have a RBI in this game, along with
Hayden Mirante doing his part. On the mound,
Donny Tober would take the loss despite pitching eight innings allowing three runs and five strikeouts.
Payton Smith would pitch an inning in relief and would give the Knights a final chance allowing no runs with one strikeout.
Game Two
Once again, this game got going in the first, but it would be the Owls who would draw first blood scoring a run. They would follow that by putting up four in the third, giving them a comfortable lead. The Knights would come knocking on the door for the Owls. They would get going and scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth and would get close to a comeback in the bottom of the six scoring three runs, cutting that deficit to a one run ball game. This game however would be decided in the top of the eighth when the Owls exploded for 11 runs ultimately leading to a mercy rule win through eight innings.
The Knights on off until I get seven hits in this one, but that eighth inning was just too much for the Knights to come back from.
Giovanny Alvillar would go three for three in this game but leading the team in RBI's would be
Anthony Zisa who had two. Mirante would once again get an RBI in this one on a hit along with
Alex Nisbet, who had one as well. On the mound,
Ayden Yaeger would get the start and would get in some trouble but would push through five innings of work allowing five runs.
Bryce Bottemiller would make his college debut in this game and pitch two innings allowing a run with a strikeout. Finally,
Hank Kern would be the guy the Owls beat up scoring ten runs in one inning.
Next Up
The Knights will finish this series tomorrow at Milwaukie High School as they hope to turn the series around with a split. Game one will be at 11am.
