FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 7
th, 2026
Forest Grove, Ore.| Warner Pacific baseball took a break from nonconference play and battled the Boxers of Pacific University tonight and got a knockout win 14-3.
Warner Pacific took the lead right away in the first inning scoring two runs and even though they gave up a run of their own in the frame, they never looked back.
Mason Deverna almost on his own was responsible for the first two runs of the game. Deverna hit an RBI single and then created chaos on the base paths stealing second forcing the Boxers catcher into a throwing error scoring another run. The next four runs for the Knights were all scored via base hits from Trent Lowe,
Skyler Roque-Sunahara, Lowe again, and finally
Mitchell Thoma-Britt. The Knights had a huge eighth inning scoring nine runs which almost made up for the ten runs the squad gave up in a game against Oregon Tech in an inning.
The Knights scored 14 runs on a ridiculous 20 hits. What was extremely impressive is that none of the runs scored were via the long ball. The Knights continued to have great approaches at the plate which payed off.
Mason Deverna led the way for the Knights hit wise going 4-5 from the dish. Trent Lowe and
Mitchell Thoma-Britt both had three RBI's leading the way. Another very impressive stat is that other than Lowe and Thoma-Britt, nobody else on the team had more than one RBI. Seven of the 14 runs were brought in by seven different people.
Brooks Frere got the start on the mound for the Knights and went four innings giving up just three hits and an earned run. Since Frere didn't got the required five innings, he was not able to pick up the win. The win ended up going to
Ayden Yaeger who was the most impressive reliever going two innings of no-hit ball with a strikeout.
Kaden Hindman also got a couple innings of work giving up three hits and two runs of which one was earned. The Boxers put six total pitchers on the mound tonight and all but one of them gave up at least a run.
