Estacada, Ore. | The Warner Pacific University cross country team opened its 2026 campaign at the Lewis & Clark XC Opener, with the Knights getting their first opportunity of the season to compete against runners from across the Portland area.

On the men's side, Warner Pacific was represented by Jose Zelaya and Jesus Isabeles competed.

Zelaya led the way for the Knights, crossing the finish line in 16:04.90 to secure 16th place overall. Isabeles finished 45th overall with a time of 18:34.80.

The Knights competed against a field featuring runners from Portland State, Lewis & Clark, Clark College, Pacific Lutheran and other programs.

The season-opening meet provided Warner Pacific with an early opportunity to establish a starting point as the Knights begin working toward the heart of their 2026 schedule.

The Knights will look to build off their opening performances as they continue through the early portion of the 2026 cross country season. They will compete next in the PLU Inivte on September 19th.
