Frank Johnson joined Warner Pacific University’s athletic department as head wrestling coach in 2014. Prior to his arrival, Frank had spent four years as head coach at Pacific University where he was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year.
In his six years at the helm of the Knights’ program, Johnson has coached two Conference Champions, five women’s All-Americans, five men’s All-American’s, four National Finalists, and one National Champion.
The Kennewick, Washington native received his degree in English Literature from Pacific University where he was the 1990 National Champion in Wrestling, and a 2x All-American. Johnson then went on to receive his Master’s in Special Education from University of Hawaii.
In 2002, Johnson piloted and started a women’s wrestling program at Pacific University where the team placed third at the US Open. One member of that team (Tela O'Donnell) made the US Olympic team and another (Sally Roberts) placed third in the World Championships twice and is the founder of Wrestle Like A Girl, a non-profit organization that uses wrestling to empower women and girls to become leaders.
Johnson is married to his wife Tammy and the two have three children; Josh, CJ and Matthew. The family resides in Forest Grove, Oregon.
