Nels Norquist

Nels Norquist joined the Warner Pacific athletic department in 2012 as head women’s volleyball coach. Norquist joined the staff after seven years of coaching, most recently at fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Corban University.

In his first season at the helm, the Knights experienced a complete turnaround in competitiveness. After a 3-16 season in 2011, WPC surged to a 15-12 record in 2012 and 9-9 mark in Cascade Conference play during the 2012 campaign.

After several tough seasons, the Knights again made a big improvement in 2015. The team posted an 8-12 mark in CCC play and missed the CCC Tournament by one game. WP qualified for the second time under coach Norquist in 2016, posting a 9-11 CCC record. Norquist has reached the CCC tournament in 2012 and 2016 and reached his 100th career during the 2018 season. The native of Canby, Oregon has coached 16 All-Conference, 26 Academic All-Conference, 4 All-Region and 1 All-America athletes in his tenure.

Norquist received his Bachelors of Science in Integrated Science Education form Western Oregon University where he was a member of the Men’s Club Volleyball team.

Outside of volleyball, Nels’ athletic accomplishments include a high school highlight of “crushing a grand slam over the left field wall in the 3rd round of playoffs”. Nels is married to Katie, who is a state champion volleyball player and first-team all-state outside hitter at West Linn High School, who then went on to play Golf for the Oregon Ducks. The two have two daughters and reside in West Linn.
