Troy Ready begins his third season as head coach for Warner Pacific Men's Soccer in 2019. His vision for the future of Knight soccer is already taking shape on the field, in the classroom and through the spiritual development of his players.
Ready obtained his USSF "A" Coaching License in 2015, and also holds an Asian Football Confederation "B" Coaching License after coaching professionally overseas. In 2009, he moved to Tajikistan where he played and coached for Tajik League champions, Vakhsh. Ready then served as goalkeeping director and staff coach for the Tajik National Team and was later named Technical Director for the Tajik Soccer Federation. Upon returning in 2013, Ready has spent the past 6 years as a coach on the Portland Timbers U23’s staff.
As a player, Ready attended the University of Washington from 1999-2003 and was the Huskies leading scorer as a senior. He was named PAC-10 All-League for his efforts. Drafted in the 1st Round by the Seattle Sounders, he opted for an overseas stint in Norway's 1st Division. Ready then signed a professional contract with the Portland Timbers from 2006-2008. Ready also played 8 seasons with the Spokane Shadow (PDL) where he tallied more appearances than anyone in club history.
Troy also has a passion to use the platform of soccer for community development. He is currently serving in his 6th season as the chaplain for the Portland Timbers, was co-humanitarian of the year for the club as a player, and spent 4 years in Central Asia using soccer as a vehicle for relief and development.
"We are so excited to have Troy on our coaching staff," said Interim Athletic Director Frank Johnson. "His unique and meaningful experience as a player and coach fits so well with our mission at Warner Pacific. He is a man of genuine faith in Jesus Christ, and his soccer qualifications speak for themselves. I can't wait to see what else he will accomplish with our soccer program!"
Troy and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 15 years and have three sons Myles (10), Keats (8), and Tanner (6). In his free time you'll find him hanging with his friends and family, playing the guitar, or trying to figure out how to fly fish.
