Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific posted a season high hitting percentage (.252) en route to a 25-14, 25-23, 25-23 sweep over Evergreen State in volleyball action tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The win for the Knights (3-9, 1-5 CCC) was the first Cascade Conference victory of the season after five losses to start league play. Evergreen falls to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in CCC play.
Jaclyn Chew-Dorsey was especially efficient on the attack for the Knights, hitting for a season high 9 kills and no errors. Teammate Emily Damschen added 11 kills versus one error to help WP to 45 kills as a team. Whitney Valenta and Meltia Elliot shared setting duties with 20 assists each.
Though the Knights had the upper hand for most of the match, Warner Pacific had to fend off a set three challenge from Evergreen by scoring the final five points of the frame to win 25-23.
The visting Geoducks received a quality effort from Jasmine Horton who swung for 10 kills and did not commit an error. Chantel Petkus continued her conference leading dig numbers by adding 17 more to her total.
Warner Pacific will host Northwest University tomorrow night, while Evergreen will head across Portland to face Concordia. Both matches are at 7:00 pm.
