PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific fell to visiting Northwest University in straight sets tonight in Cascade Conference volleyball action tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The Knights (3-10, 1-6 CCC) were unable to take advantage of 13 NU service errors for the match, as the Eagles (9-5, 4-3 CCC) offset those miscues by serving for nine aces.
The outcome may have been different but for a momentum breaking loss for the Knights in the first set. WP led 24-23 and served for set point, but the Eagles' Emily Boyle spiked home three straight kills to take the frame 26-24.
Sets two and three were close, with 4 ties and 2 lead changes in each, but Northwest held off the Knights each time to earn the sweep.
Freshman Rachel Warick swung for 11 kills to lead Warner Pacific, while Emily Damschen added eight. Sam Kolakowski contributed 18 digs from her Libero position.
Loren Holtz (13) and Anu Akamine (11) were in double figure kills for Northwest. Heather Shulke provided solid back row play with a match high 25 digs.
