EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian knocked off Warner Pacific College in four sets, 25-15, 25-22, 17-25, 25-22 tonight at the Morse Events Center in Eugene.
The host Beacons hit .235 on the night and were led by the strong play of Cori Wallace, who posted her NCU-record tying eleventh double-double. The Beacons collected 57 kills on the night while holding the Knights to 40. WPC hit .138 in the game and were outblocked by Northwest Christian, 7-3.
The Knights hit a solid .458 as a team with 12 kills and just one attack error during the set three win to avoid the sweep. Warner Pacific (2-11, 1-11 CCC) was led by Kaylin Elms, hitting .385 with eleven kills. Kelsey Kurtz collected 28 assists and nine digs and Jacalyn Chew-Dorsey led all players with 25 digs.
Wallace ended the night with 42 assists and 12 digs, adding three blocks and six kills. Maren Mansfield broke out of a recent slump with a match-high 15 kills, hitting .282 and Danielle Nance had four blocks and 12 kills while hitting a match-best .440.
Northwest Christian (10-10, 5-7 CCC) will be back in action on Saturday night against Concordia. Warner Pacific will be on the road at Corban University tomorrow night. Both games are slated for 7:00 starts.
