PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia swept cross-town foe Warner Pacific in straight sets tonight in Cascade Conference volleyball action tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The visiting Cavaliers (9-3, 4-1 CCC) attacked at a .280 percentage or better in all three sets, while holding the host Knights (1-5, 0-5 CCC) to 20 total kills and a .026 percentage for the match.
Set one started as a close battle and the Knights closed to with 10-11 on a CU error. Concordia closed the set with a 7-1 run behind strong serving from Skyler Kamaka and won the frame going away, 25-14.
Warner Pacific dug themselves a 7-1 hole to start set two and did not recover. A kill from Brie Schau brought the Knights within 20-9, but Concordia scored the final five points to win the set 25-9.
Set three was a much closer affair, as the score was tied seven times. After a CU timeout, Kaylin Elms fired over a service ace for Warner Pacific to make the score 17-16 in favor of Concordia. The Knights would not score again however, and Aria Nojima spiked home the game winner to give CU the game, 25-16.
Warner Pacific was led by a season high six kills from Brie Schau. Jacalyn Chew-Dorsey had a team high 14 digs.
Clair Theil hit for a match high 11 kills for Concordia, while Aubrie Concannon had 28 digs.
