College of Idaho Serves Up Sweep of Warner Pacific

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho remained unbeaten in Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-18, 25-13) sweep of Warner Pacific at C.C. Perry Gym tonight.

The visiting Coyotes (10-1, 7-0 CCC) dominated the first set behind the serving of Kylee Nawahine, who served C of I to 16 straight points and racked up six aces during the frame. Nawahine toed the line with her team leading 7-3, and gave the Knight receivers fits until the score was 23-3. An Ellen Payne kill and 'Yote error stopped the run for WP, but a Torrey Hulsey kill wrapped up the set 25-5 for C of I.

Warner Pacific (1-6, 0-6 CCC) fared better in the second set with improved serve reception and hitting. Loren Hernandez swung for three kills in the frame and a pair kills from Shayla Dahl drew the Knights within 18-23 late in the game. The threat was ended however, by a Nawahine kill and an error from WP.

The host Knights got off to a promising start in set three by forging leads of 3-1 and 5-4. Whitney Brigham was the culprit from the line this time, serving the Coyotes to a 6-0 run and allowing C of I to build a comfortable lead.

Torrey Hulsey led C of I with 11 kills, while Brigham had 24 digs.
