Balanced Attack Sends WP Men Past New Hope

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. - In a balanced offensive performance, five Knights scored in double figures to send Warner Pacific to an 86-69 win over New Hope Christian College tonight in a non-conference encounter.

Stephen Harris led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and WP made 48 percent of their field goal attempts.

The Knights jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening three minutes of the game. Ryam Parks made a pair of three point goals during the fast start.

NHCC cut the lead to six points (14-8) after a Mike Kirkwood layup, and trailed 21-13 with 8 minutes remaining in the first half. WP went on another run at that point, this time 11-0 to take a 32-13 lead.

The game seemed to be in hand for Warner Pacific, but the visiting Deacons closed the period with a 20-5 burst of their own to make the score 39-33 at the break.

The half-time margin was as close as New Hope would get, as Doug Thomas drained a long trey in the first minute to put WPC up 42-33. The Knights slowly built an insurmountable advantage as the half wore on, and took their largest lead of the game (75-54) on a Coletun Tarr layin with 5:39 on the clock.

In addition to Harris' 21 points, Thomas and Parks scored 15 points each for Warner Pacific (4-1). Zac Compton contributed a season high 11 points including 9 of 12 makes from the free throw line.

Drew Wiley tossed in 17 points for New Hope Christian (4-6), while Tarance Glyn scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.
