Volleyball Drops Match to NCU in Four

Box Score

SPOKANE, Wash. - Warner Pacific fell in four sets to Northwest Christian in the first of three contests for the Knights at the CCC/Frontier Challenge being held in Spokane over the weekend.

Despite hitting for more kills and out-digging the Beacons, Warner Pacific could not overcome 35 hitting errors compared to just 10 for NCU.

The Knights shook off a 25-14 loss in set one and rebounded to take set two by the score of 25-17.

Set three looked to also go WP's way as the Knights held a 22-16 lead before giving up seven straight points and eventually falling 26-24. The final set saw Warner Pacific fall behind 0-6 in the opening moments, only to fight back to withing 15-16 before fading down the stretch.

"We did some good things against a pretty good NCU team," said coach Nels Norquist. "We were inconsistent with our hitting which gave away points, but we got contributions from a lot players which is encouraging as we move forward."

Devan Belshe led WP with 16 kills and 17 digs, while Rylie Engelson added 12 kills and 31 assists.
