WP Volleyball Outlasts Montana Western

SPOKANE, Wash. - Warner Pacific showed some early season resilience with a thrilling five set win over Montana Western at the third day of competition at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge.

The Knights started the match on the right foot, winning the first two sets by the scores of 25-21 and 25-19. Marchelle Bostic served for four aces in the two frames, and the Knights had nine as a team after set two.

UMW battled back to take the next two sets however, as the Bulldogs' Bailey Branson caught fire on the attack. The outside hitter finished the match with 18 kills versus just two errors.

The deciding set was a classic, with the Knights emerging with a hard-fought 19-17 win. The score was tied 11 different times during the slugfest, but WP pulled out the win thanks to consecutive kills from Shayla Dahl and Nicole Lisoski.

Devin Belshe led Warner Pacific with 15 kills, and added 14 digs and two aces in an all-around solid performance. Rylie Engelson and Nicole Lisoski added 11 kills each, while Bostic (24 assists) and Engelson (21 assists) shared the setting duties.
