The NAIA No. 1 ranked Cavaliers applied plenty of pressure to the Knight defense from the opening whistle, outshooting the Knights 30-2 on the day and forcing WP keeper
Victoria Clemenson into 12 saves.
Kaylynn Winwood opened the scoring with a close range finish in the 6th minute. Hannah Scott made a probing run to the endline, and fed Winwood at the near post.
The Knight back line settled in for most of the rest of the half, thwarting the CU attack on most occasions and Clemenson made several key saves to keep the high powered Cavs at bay. Concordia did tack on a second goal just before halftime, with McKayla Madison one-timing a shot from eight yards away.
The second pair of goals came from Concordia surging down the flanks. Alex Blalock was the recipient of a cross from Alicia Alarcon-Evans in the 58th minute, and she turned the ball into the net. Ten minutes later another run down the sideline was crossed by Jasmin Ayala that found the head of Hayley Hayes, who nodded it past Clemenson.
