Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia lived up to its #4 ranking with a 4-1 decision over Warner Pacific today at David Douglas High School.
The visiting Cavaliers (9-1-1, 3-0 CCC) got on the board early in the game, as Alex Blalock finished in front of the goal in the 3rd minute after a well-placed cross from Erin Huisingh.
Anika Hayman added a second goal for CU in the 35th minute. Warner Pacific goalkeeper parried away a shot from Hannah Kimsey, but the ball fell to the feet of Hayman who scored from close range. Concordia made the score 3-0 just before halftime off the foot of Ariel Kanable, who took a nice chipped pass from Alicia Alarcon and finished to the far post.
Blaclock struck again with just two minutes gone in the second half to make the score 4-0. The rout looked to be in full swing, but the host Knights (1-6, 0-3 CCC) began to regroup. The WP defense was able to close down all further Cavalier attacks, and generated enough offense to pull a goal back in the 64th minute.
Larissa Byrgazova bent in a corner kick just inside the far post to get the Knights on the scoreboard and make the final score 4-1.
Concordia goalkeeper Nicole Franklin was called on to make just one save for the game, while
Allie Holterman made five saves for the Knights in the loss.
CU outshot the Knights 16-4 on the day, and had three corner kicks compared to two for WP.
