PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific overcame a two point halftime deficit to edge Northwest University, 63-58 in a Cascade Conference Tournament semifinal game at Bart Valentine Court tonight.

The result sets up a CCC Tournament final game for the Knights versus Southern Oregon, who were winners at Eastern Oregon tonight in La Grande.

Warner Pacific was the aggressor during the early action, and used a 16-0 run over a five minute stretch to take a 20-6 lead. The visiting Eagles would respond with a 15-0 run of their own however, and went ahead 21-20 on a three pointer from Ryan Dornik with 7:23 showing on the clock. The teams then traded baskets for the rest of the period, with NU scoring on a well-executed inbounds play with .07 remaining to take a 34-32 lead at the break.

The second half was close throughout, as the lead changed hands five times during the 20 minutes of play. With the score at 51-51, Ryan Parks drained back-to-back three pointers for WP, giving the Knights a six point advantage and the lead for good. NU climbed to within a single point (57-56) after a Ryan McIntosh trey, but Josh Black hit a tough leaner in the lane for Warner Pacific, followed by a layup from Zac Compton with 1:07 to play.

WP gave the Eagles a fighting chance by missing three straight free throws in the final minute, but NU could muster only single bucket from Michael Greene, and WP's Coletun Tarr salted away the game with a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining.

Tarr led the CCC Co-Champion Knights with 17 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field. Josh Black dished out a career high 11 assists, while Stephen Harris grabbed a team high eight rebounds.

Michael Green led all players with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ryan McIntosh and Michael Russo added 15 and 11 points respectively.

Warner Pacific improves their win-loss record to 26-6 on the year, and will face Southern Oregon on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:00 pm inside C.C. Perry Gym. Northwest falls to 22-10, and will wait to see if they earn an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
