SPOKANE, Wash. - The Warner Pacific volleyball team suffered a pair of losses during the second day of competition at the Red Lion CCC/Frontier Challenge.
in the first match, the Knights managed to claim set two in a four set loss to Rocky Mountain College. After dropping the first set 25-16, WP won set two by the score of 25-19 thanks to a .314 hitting percentage and at least two kills from six different players. The attacking efficiency did not hold up however, and RMC went on to take the next two frames 25-15 and 25-18.
Julia Toscano led the Knights with 14 kills, while Rachel Warick added eight. Marchelle Bostic contributed 37 assists and 13 digs.
The second match started brightly for the Knights against Great Falls, as WP built a 20-16 lead thanks to tough serving from Brandy Velasquez. The Argos reeled off five straight points however, and eventually stole the frame 25-23.Â
The Knights did not recover from the loss and struggled to find a consistent attack the rest of the match. WP held UGF to a hitting percentage of just .118, but committed 30 attacking errors of their own. Great Falls completed the sweep with scores of 25-15 and 25-18.
Toscano again led WP with 10 kills. Bostic served over two aces, giving her seven for the tournament.
Warner Pacific will close out the Red Lion Challenge tomorrow with contests versus Montana Western (10 am) and Montana Tech (2 pm).
