Knights Conclude Red Lion Challenge

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Warner Pacific volleyball team finished the Red Lion CCC/Frontier Challenge with straight set losses to Montana Western and Montana Tech.

Slow starts plagued the Knights in both contests. In the early match versus Montana Western, WP managed just four kills in set one which ended in a score of 25-9 in favor of UMW. The Knights improved to 11 kills and a .181 hitting percentage in set two, but the Bulldogs made just one hitting error and went on to claim the set 25-15.

Looking to turn the momentum of the match in set three, Warner Pacific battled back from a 14-20 deficit to tie the frame at 23-23. UMW put the game away however with a pair of kills, sending the Knights to the straight set loss.

Rachel Warick swung for a team high eight kills in the match while hitting at a .429 clip. Mikaela Lisoski added seven kills, while Kelsey Merritt had 14 digs.

In the afternoon game versus Montana Tech, the Knights again had trouble getting started. WP was on the wrong end of a 25-9 score in set one as MT fired over four service aces and did not commit a single hitting error. Set two was closer, but the Orediggers led from start to finish in a 25-19 win.

The Knights were determined to prolong the match and took a 15-14 lead in set three after an ace from Nicole Lisoski. MT regained the advantage however, and withstood a late charge by WP to close out the match 25-23.

Julia Toscano led the Knights with 10 kills, while Allahna Hartwick (five kills, eight digs) was a bright spot in her first extended action.

Warner Pacific will open their home schedule on Monday, August 26 at 6 pm versus Simpson University.
