PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific set a program records in total kills (76) and assists (71) tonight, and they needed all of them to slip past Corban in a hard fought five-set win over the Warriors in Portland. 
 
The Basics

• Score: Warner Pacific 3, Corban 2 (25-15, 22-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-13)
• Records: WPC (5-11, 3-8 CCC), Corban (5-13, 2-9 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story:  The host Knights overcame a 2-1 deficit and a 11-13 score in the final set to defeat Corban in CCC play. In addition to the team records, Nicole Kincaide set a WPC record in attack percentage (.656, minimum 20 attacks) on the way to a career high 23 kills. 

How It Happened

• The first set was even until 9-9, when the Knights scored six in a row behind the serving of Devan Belshe.
• Cara Wonsley swung for two kills to finish off the set, which WP claimed by the score of 25-15.
• After a Janessa White kill, the Knights led set two 14-9, but could not maintain the advantage.
• Corban rallied with a 6-1 run, and eventually took the lead for good at 18-17 on a WP error.
• The Knights ran out to a 5-1 lead to start set three, but the Warriors fought back to tie the set at 7-7. 
• The teams traded points the rest of the way, with neither side leading by more than two points.
• Warner Pacific served for set-point at 25-24, but a kill from Shantelle Hill and two errors from the hosts gave the set to the Warriors.
• Set four was controlled by the Knights as they built an insurmountable 14-2 lead in the early action.
• Corban did rally and closed the gap to 21-17, but WP put down four kills to win the set and tie the match.
• Corban looked to grab the road win after edging in front 13-11 in a tight final set.
• Two miscues from the Warriors allowed WP to tie the score, then Janessa White came up with a timely service ace to give the Knights the lead.
• Devan Belshe rose up for the last kill to give Warner Pacific the thrilling home victory.

Notable

• Kincaide finished with 23 kills versus just two errors on 32 total swings. 
• White followed up her 25 kill performance yesterday with 24 more tonight versus Corban.
• Claire Bailey led Corban with 14 kills, and Miah Smith added 13 winners.
• Marchelle Bostic touched up 59 assists, and the senior setter is closing in on 2000 for her career.
