Overtime is Unkind to Knight Men in Loss to Corban

PORTLAND, Ore. - Despite building a 3-1 halftime lead, the Knights saw it come undone in a 4-3 overtime loss at home versus Corban tonight at a rainy and windy Damazo Field.

The Basics

Score: Corban 4, Warner Pacific 3
 Records: CRB (10-4-1, 8-2-1 CCC), WPC (5-7-3, 4-6-1 CCC)
 Location: Damazo Field, Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: Warner Pacific surrendered a golden goal in the waning moments of the first overtime, sending the Knights to a CCC loss at home. The visiting Warriors slowly wore the Knights down and battled back from a 3-1 halftime deficit. The first period may have been the most complete 45 minutes of play of the season for WPC, but the plot was lost after the break.

How it Happened

• Arsinio Walker put Corban on the board first, slotting home a shot after an initial save from Joe White.
• Warner Pacific responded with three straight goals. Geovanny Vazquez provided the first with a deft chip over the Warrior keeper from 18 yards away.
• Mario Guizar added a pair of goals inside five minutes apart. Both were curling efforts from the corner of the penalty area that found the far post.
• The Knights surrendered a headed goal in the 62nd minute. Daniel Fredrickson got on the end of a corner kick to nod the ball home.
• Despite the breakdown, Warner Pacific looked to have the game in hand as all further Corban attacks were dealt with comfortably.
• It all changed in the 89th minute thanks to Walker's second strike of the night, tying the game for Corban.
• The winning tally came off the foot of Kyle Hammond in the 98th minute, completing the comeback for the Warriors.
