Parks Sets Record, but Knights Fall to Pioneers

PORTLAND, Ore. – Ryan Parks set a new Warner Pacific record for career three pointers, but the Knights dropped a close game to Lewis & Clark tonight at Bart Valentine Court.

The Basics

 Score: Lewis & Clark 64, Warner Pacific 61
 Records: LC (3-0), WPC (6-2)
 Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
 The Short Story: Lewis & Clark got out a quick start and held on for the 64-61 win tonight over Warner Pacific. Both teams struggled from the field - LC managed to make 20 of 54 attempts (36%) while the Knights were only slightly better at 22 of 54 (37%). Parks had a rough night shooting the ball (2 of 9), but his trey at the 10:20 mark of the first half put him at 239 career three pointers and carried him past Josh Jackson for most all-time at WPC. 

How it Happened

• LC managed to build a 20-6 lead in the early going thanks to a 12-0 run.
• The visitors were able to take advantage of the of the Knights' struggles offensively and led 31-20 with 3:53 left in period one.
• A 9-0 run at that point by Warner Pacific finally gave the home team some life. Michael Hall scored five points for WP in the burst.
• LC scored a bucket and converted on one of two technical free throws to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.
• The Knights took their first lead of the game since 2-0 at the 15:17 mark on a layup from Coletun Tarr
• The teams then traded leads five times the rest of the way, with the Pios claiming the lead for good with 1:13 on the clock by a trey from Serg Ovchinnikov.
• WP could not cash in on three scoring attempts in the final minute and LC escaped with the three point victory.

Notable

• The game was started a half hour late due to a scheduling mixup with officials.
• The Knights were hit with four technical fouls, which turned into six points for Lewis & Clark.
• Leading scorer Doug Thomas suffered through an 0 for 11 night from the floor.
