Knights Fall to William Jessup in Season Debut

Box Score ROCKLIN, Calif. - Under the hot California sun, the Warner Pacific women's soccer suffered an overtime loss today at William Jessup by the score of 2-1.

The Basics

• Score: William Jessup 2, Warner Pacific 1 (OT)
• Records: WJU (1-0), WPC (0-1)

• The Short Story:  Carolyn Thorp scored on a looping shot from 20 yards away with just 12 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to give the host Warriors the win at home. It was the season opening contest for both teams.

How It Happened

• Both teams were scoreless at halftime. Knight keeper Allie Holterman made seven saves in the period to keep the game at 0-0. 
• Kristina Stammer opened the scoring for WJU, heading home a corner kick from Andrea Garcia in the 53rd minute. 
• The Knights responded in the 77th mintute, as Crystal Foster opened her account with a breakaway goal.
• Warner Pacific outshot the Warriors 4-1 in the overtime period, but WJU made their lone chance count. Thorp chased down a long pass and chipped the ball home from a difficult angle as time was close to expiring.
