• The Short Story: Warner Pacific fell to Cal State San Marcos for the second time in as many meetings in the first of four matches the Knights will play at the UC Merced tournament. The Cougars used a balanced attack to earn the three set sweep, as Jordan Banich (9 kills), Alyssa Hubbard (9 kills), and Cheyenne Richards (7 kills) led the way.
Janessa White swung for 10 kills in the loss, but WPC as a team attacked at a .056 clip which included 20 errors.
How It Happened• CSUSM jumped out to a 7-1 lead in set one and led by at least five points the rest of the way.
• The Knights trailed by just three points in set two (8-11), but the Cougars closed out the set by outscoring WP 14-5 to win the frame 25-13.
• Warner Pacific managed to forge a 7-5 advantage in the early action of set three thanks to three Cougar errors and a pair of kills from
Janessa White.
• CSUSM reclaimed the lead with three straight points and completed the sweep by swing for 16 kills in the set compared to eight from WPC.
