OLYMPIA, Wash. – After a win on Friday night the Knight women's basketball team could not complete road sweep, falling tonight at Evergeen 68-56.
Combined with Friday's victory over Concordia, the Geoducks are now 10-6 overall and 4-5 in the conference. Warner Pacific falls to 9-13 overall and 2-7 in the CCC with the loss.
Evergreen's Sadee Jones picked up her ninth double-double of the season, finishing with 24 points and 10 rebounds, five on both ends of the floor. Karina Gee was 3-for-4 from beyond the three-point line, all in the first half, and finished with 15 points.
For Warner Pacific,
Jordan Wilcox knocked down a trio of threes on the way to 15 points, while
Daesha Jackson added 14 and
Lindsay Loe 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Knights got off to a fast start and took an 11-points lead about eight minutes into the first half, but the Geoducks rallied behind the strong shooting of Gee. The junior transfer hit three in a row from outside the arc to get her team going, and by the intermission the Geoducks held a 34-31 lead.
Once Evergreen took the lead it stayed on top, eventually building a 12-point lead with six minutes to play before closing out the victory.
Evergreen shot 39 percent (20-for-51) from the field and 74 percent at the foul line. Warner Pacific was whistled for 25 fouls, leading to 31 free throw attempts for the Geoducks. They knocked down 23 of those, including a 9-for-11 effort from Jones and 7-for-8 from Weatherspoon. The hosts also enjoyed a 40-31 rebounding edge.
Warner Pacific shot 36 percent from the floor (20-for-56) and 85 percent at the charity stripe (11-for-13).
Both teams distributed the ball well with the visitors compiling 14 assists on their 20 baskets and Evergreen getting 15 assists on their 20 makes.
