Late Three Pointer Erases Knight Upset Bid

CALDWELL, Idaho – Jordan O'Byrne canned a game winning three-pointer with two seconds remaining as No.2 College of Idaho knocked off Warner Pacific University 70-69 inside the packed J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Led by five of Earl Jones 20 points in the first three minutes of the game, the Knights (12-4, 2-2) jumped out to a 10-0 lead. The Yotes (14-3, 3-2) climbed back into the contest late in the first half, trailing at the intermission by four points despite committing 15 turnovers.

Warner Pacific started the second half much similar to the first, extending their lead to eight points with 14-minutes left. With just under ten minutes remaining in the game, the Knights broke out onto a 3-on-1 fast break but was unable to score. Following the defensive stand, Nebeker canned a three to bring the Yotes within one point.

The Coyotes grabbed their first lead of the second half on a Josh Wilson layup with 8:13 left in the game. Trailing by two with 1:55 left, Doug Thomas hit a three to give him a game-high 21 points and the Knights a 69-67 lead. Both teams swapped empty possessions setting up O'Byrne for the game-winning three from the corner with two ticks left on the clock.

Warner Pacific heaved the inbound to half court with the ball being deflected by the Coyotes and the clock striking zero. Demetrius Perkins scored 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Marko Kovacevic recorded his fourth double-double of the year, scoring 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

Warner Pacific scored 49-percent of their points off of 26 Coyote turnovers. With the win, C of I extended their home win streak to 25 games.
