Knights Fade Late in Loss at Eastern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Warner Pacific started well and were within striking distance after one half of play, but could not sustain it through the second in a 67-55 loss at Eastern Oregon tonight.

EOU (13-4, 5-1 CCC) had three players score in double-figures as Madeline Laan and Maya Ah You scored a game-high 14 points, apiece. Jordan Klebaum added 12 points.

For the Knights (8-10, 1-4 CCC), Daesha Jackson scored a team high 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Knights came out on fire as they scored nine of the first 11 points of the game forcing EOU to call a timeout.  After the time out, the Mountaineers scored the next seven points, tying the game at 9-9, after a Klebaum three-pointer.

Warner Pacific slowly extended their lead back to seven points, 18-11, after a Jackson three-pointer. The seven point lead for the Knights was the biggest of the game and EOU slowly mounted their comeback as they went on a 13-0 run, to make the score 24-18, which saw the Knights go six minutes without a made basket. Going into halftime, Eastern Oregon held a five point lead, 33-28.

EOU slowly started to extend their lead in the second half. Maloree Moss increased the Mountaineers lead to nine, 39-30, on a fast break layup. After the layup, both offenses went cold for a four minute stretch and Klebaum ended the cold shooting by hitting a three-pointer growing EOU's lead to 47-35.

The Mountaineers continued to hold onto a double-digit lead and with 9:47 left, Kelsey Hill hit a three pointer putting EOU ahead by 15, 55-40. The Knights continued to try to mount a comeback but could never trim the EOU lead to under double-figures for the rest of the game.
