Corban Spoils Senior Night, WP Falls 3-1

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific was hoping for a strong performance and victory on senior night, but Corban spoiled those plans on Halloween night in Portland.

The Basics

• Score: Corban 3, Warner Pacific 1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-12, 25-21)
• Records: WPC (10-13, 7-11 CCC), CRB (13-11, 11-7 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: Warner Pacific honored six senior players before the match, but the good feeling did not carry over onto the court in a four-set loss to Corban. The visiting Warriors attcked at a .374 clip as WPC could not get an effective block up at the net. Warner Pacific hit a respectable .274 in response, but could not overcome 8 service aces by Corban. The Warriors clinched a playoff berth with the win, while the Knights have a tough road ahead in their quest for the post season.

How it Happened

• Corban came out of the gates on fire, hitting for 17 kills versus just one error in set one.
• Amber Parker set the tone for the Warriors, swinging for 8 kills and serving during a 6-0 run that gave Corban a 22-13 lead.
• Warner Pacific responded in set two, rebounding from a 5-1 deficit to take an 8-6 lead.

• The teams battled back and forth until Alyssa Neal pounded out a kill to give WPC a 21-18 advantage.
• Neal also provided the set winning kill for WP, and the Knights looked the more confident squad heading into set three.
• Corban had other ideas, and steadily pulled away in the third frame to build a 17-10 lead.
• The Warriors kept their foot on the gas, and Madison McLain served for six straight points to make the score 24-11.
• WP tried to prolong the match, taking a 13-10 in set four lead behind four kills from Janessa White.
• It was not WPC's night however as Corban made a decisive 3-0 run to go ahead 23-19, and then traded points with the hosts to ultimately close the set 25-21

Notable

• Seniors Kendra Henry, Ashley Hernandez, Mikaela Lisoski, Nicole Lisoski, Julia Toscano, and Nicole Kincaide were honored before the match.
