PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific used an outstanding defensive effort to stymie Evergreen, 74-43 tonight to remain undefeated in CCC play.

The Short Story

The visiting Geoducks were left searching for answers on offense, hitting just 27% of their field goal attempts. On the other hand, the Knights used a balanced attack with four Knights scoring in double figures led by Daesha Jackson with 13. The 1st quarter set the tone for the game, with Warner Pacific jumping out to an 18-5 lead after 10 minutes of play.

How it Happened

• After Jonelle Staveland converted a three-point play to tie the game at 5-5, Evergreen did not score again in the 1st quarter.
• The Knights scored 13 unanswered points to close the period, capped by a steal and layin from Jackson as the horn sounded.
• WP continued to pull away in the 2nd quarter, and led by 20 points at the break (36-16).
• Warner Pacific scored the first seven points of the 3rd quarter also, effectively removing all doubt to the outcome of the game.
• Gabi Fenumiai scored six straight points spanning the end of the 3rd quarter and start of the 4th, but Evergreen continued to struggle against the Knight defense. 
• The gap remained above 20 points for the remainder of the game, giving WPC their 3rd CCC win in as many tries.
