Knights Sprint Past Evergreen

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific scorched the nets for 73 percent shooting in the first half and 64 percent for the game on the way to a comfortable win over Evergreen tonight.

The Basics

Score: Warner Pacific 94, Evergreen 75
 Records: WPC (21-6, 11-4 CCC), ESC (4-18, 1-13 CCC)
Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: The Knights kept pace in the CCC standings and kept their title hopes alive with a win over Evergreen at Bart Valentine Court. WP made 22 of 30 field goal attempts in the first half en route to an insurmountable 53-26 lead at the break. Four Knights scored in double figures, led by Doug Thomas with 18 points. WP let off the gas somewhat in the second half and the Geoducks heated up from three point range, eventually making 14 of 33 attempts.

How it Happened

• Josh Black hit a trey on WP's first possession and the Knights never trailed.
• Evergreen hung around despite Warner Pacific scoring at will, and trailed just 23-16 after Donald Terry drained a three pointer.
• A 12-0 run at that point by the Knights put the Geoducks on their heels, and a trey from Ryan Parks put WP in front 49-21 with 1:20 left in the first half.
• It was much the same in the second half, as WP continued to find easy paths to the basket.
• The Knight lead reached its pinnacle of 34 (94-60) after Tim Carter scored in the paint with 5:07 remaining.
• The final five minutes belonged to Evergreen, as the visitors scored the final 15 points of the game.
