No Trouble For Knights in Quarterfinal

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific had little trouble in a CCC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup versus Corban University, cruising to 79-49 win at Bart Valentine Court.

The Basics

Score: Warner Pacific 79, Corban 49
 Records: WPC (25-6), CRB (15-14)
Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: The #15 ranked Knights enjoyed plenty of good looks at the rim, resulting in a 54 percent shooting mark and a comfortable win over Corban in a post-season clash. WP again did damage from the three point line, making a season high 14 on 23 attempts - five coming from Ryan Parks. The visiting Warriors on the other hand, were unable to find the range making just 17 of 48 attempts from the floor. Doug Thomas led the Knights with 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting. Parks finished with 16 points. Cyrus Ward was the lone Warrior in double figures with 10 points. Warner Pacific will now host Southern Oregon in a CCC semifinal game on Saturday, February 25 at 7pm.

How it Happened

• Both teams started slowly and had trouble scoring. WP's Thomas finally broke through with a three pointer with 17:02 on the clock.
• WPC led early 7-2, but Corban scored six straight to take a 8-7 lead.
• That advantage would be short lived, as Laron Daniels canned a three and the Knights would not trail again.
• The Warriors did manage to tie the game on two occasions during the remainder of the first half, and trailed 21-20 with 6:54 to play.
• A 14-0 run from Warner Pacific at that point put the advantage firmly in the hands of the host team, and the Knights led 38-22 at the break.
• Any notion of a comeback from Corban was quickly put to rest in the second half, as WP pushed their lead out to 27 points (61-34) after Keaton Bankofier scored consecutive baskets.
• Kade Crossland gave the Warriors a glimmer of hope with six straight points, but the Knights surged again and led by a game high 35 points in the final minute.
