Yotes Stop Warner Pacific in Four Sets

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific volleyball gave a spirited effort versus College of Idaho, but ultimately fell short in a four set loss to the Yotes on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

• Score: College of Idaho 3, Warner Pacific 1 (25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 19-25)
• Records: WPC (4-7, 3-5 CCC), COI (8-8, 6-2 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: A victory in set one gave the host Knights the hopes of an upset over C of I, but the Yotes methodically kept WP at arms length the rest of the match on the way to the CCC victory. WPC again came with a solid attack and hit with a .290 percentage, but again their opponent was better - the Yotes ended at .336 efficiency.

How it Happened

• The Knights controlled set one, getting a pair of Nicole Lisoski kills in a 5-1 run to open the period and WP never trailed in the frame.
• The Yotes cut the margin to 21-20 on a WP hitting error, but seven consecutive side-outs helped the hosts secure the set win.
• A 6-2 surge to start set two put the Knights in position for an upset, but two C of I blocks and two aces paved the way to a 12-3 run and a 14-9 lead.

• WP got even at 21-21 after a Yote hitting error, but two kills from C of I stopped the rally, and a Randi Sturtz spike evened the match at a set apiece.
• Two kills each from Lisoski and Janessa White helped the Knight sprint to a 10-6 lead in Set 3, but a Yote block tied the set at 14-14, starting a six-point C of I run that gave the visitors the set win.
• C of I capped the win with a 6-1 run early in Set 4 to establish a 13-8 lead, tallying 18 kills in the period to close out the victory.
