PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho scored the game winning goal with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to defeat Warner Pacific 3-2 today at a windy Damazo Field.
The Knights defense attempted to clear a dangerous cross into the box, but smashed the ball into the leg Katelyn Benavidez and into the goal.
The visiting Yotes staked a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Maddie Brown and Allie Boyd. WPC fought back in the second half tied the game by way of scores from
Ashley Giesbers and
Kaylee Garvey.
Giesbers sent in her 10th goal of the season in the 69th minute, after a cross from
Alexis Smith was deflected to her feet right in front of the goal. Garvey scored her second goal of 2016 in the 83rd minute, lacing a shot from 12 yards away.
Warner Pacific falls to 4-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in CCC play. C of I improves to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in CCC action.
