LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Warner Pacific men's soccer team concluded the 2016 with a 4-0 loss at Eastern Oregon last Saturday.
The Knights got off to a poor start, conceding three goals in the first 18 minutes and did not recover. The defensive performance improved from that point, and WP managed to press forward on several occasions which resulted in seven corner kicks.
No goals were forthcoming however, and EOU tacked on a fourth goal in the 89th minute.
"This was always going to be tough game for us, especially with no playoff implications," said coach
Chris Thoms. "We cleaned things up as the game went on, but the bad start was too much to overcome. Overall, I'm pleased with how we grew as a team this season. Our young players gained experience and learned what it will take to be successful in our conference. We aren't far away from being a factor as a program. We'll turn to developing each player individually and finishing the semester strong in the classroom."Â
