PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Warner Pacific women's basketball team made their season debut in Arizona tonight, and claimed a 57-50 win over Hope International.
The Knights ran out to a 24-12 in the first quarter, but scored just four points in the second period and trailed 29-28 at halftime.Â
After trading baskets to open the 3rd quarter,
Bailey Allen gave WPC the lead for good on a layup with 4:13 remaining in the period.
Chanel Celis came off the bench in the 4th quarter and immediately scored seven points, pushing the WP advantage out to a game high 11 with 6:29 to play.
The Royals battled back however, cutting the gap to four points on two occasions but the Knights made four of six free throws to seal the win.
Micaela Bitanga led Warner Pacific with 13 points and three steals, while Allen contributed 12 points.
