PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State earned a road victory today, stopping Warner Pacific 60-52 in a non-conference clash at Bart Valentine Court.
Doug McDaniel scored 22 points on 8 of 14 shooting to lead the visiting Warriors, but he was the only player who found much success at scoring the ball.
Warner Pacific was able to keep close thanks to an active zone defense which held L-C to 37% shooting as a team, but the Knights could only counter with 37% from the floor also.
LC State opened up a 15 point advantage (53-38) with 9:29 to play in the second half which the Knights could not overcome. WP held the Warriors to just seven points in the final nine minutes but drew no closer than the final margin of eight points.
De'Corrius Sampson-Young led WPC with 14 points, while
Collin Malcolm (11 points) and
Keaton Bankofier (10 points) also reached double figures.
Somto Aniefuna grabbed a career high nine rebounds.
