Knights Drop CCC Opener to Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. - Multnomah picked up their first ever win over Warner Pacific in the Cascade Conference opening game for both teams tonight at Bart Valentine Court.

The host Knights could find no answer for MU's Miranda Schmillen, who poured in 32 points including four three pointers.

The visiting Lions made the 1st quarter the pivotal period, taking a 21-11 lead that they would not relinquish. WPC got on track offensively in the 2nd quarter, but Multnomah matched the Knights point for point.

MU would go on to lead by as much as 20 points in the 3rd quarter (57-37), but the Knights recovered and cut the gap to 13 points by the start of the final stanza.

After a trey from Multnomah to start the 4th quarter, a 10-0 run from Warner Pacific capped by a jumper from Bailey Allen made the score 69-60 in favor of the visitors, but MU responded with nine straight points of their own to hold off the challenge and secure the win.

Micaela Bitanga scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead WPC – her best effort in a Knight uniform. Allen added 15 points, while Kyeli Hendryx contribute 12 points and nine rebounds.
