PORTLAND, Ore. - Northwest Christian spoiled senior night for Warner Pacific, sending the Knights to a 64-57 loss at C.C. Perry Gym in Cascade Conference play.
The visiting Beacons used their height advantage to outrebound WPC 46 to 26, which led to 15 second chance points.Â
Warner Pacific's trouble with offense in the 1st quarter continued vs NCU, as the Knights scored just nine points in the opening stanza. Fortunately, the Beacons had no answers for a solid WP defense and could only build a 12-9 lead after the first 10 minutes. Both teams found that easy looks at the basket were few and far between in quarter 2 also, and NCU went into the locker room leading 21-18.
The action picked up after halftime, but Northwest Christian slowly pulled ahead with their dominance on the boards and seven points from Monique Thompson in the 3rd quarter.
Nursing a nine point lead heading into the 4th quarter, NCU held off the Knights with timely buckets.
Kendra Preuninger cut the gap down to six points (56-50) with her second three pointer of the game, but the Beacons answered right back with a trey from Chandler Gabrio which effectively sealed the outcome with 52 seconds remaining.
