Lady Knights Tripped Up in Caldwell

PORTLAND, Ore. - A dry spell by Warner Pacific in the second quarter led to a 17 point halftime deficit, and College of Idaho took advantage in 72-64 loss to the Yotes tonight in CCC play.

The Short Story

The Knights opened the game with a pair of three pointers to grab and early 6-2 lead, but a 9-0 run from College of Idaho put the host team in front. The Yotes then used a 12-0 run to open the second quarter and built an insurmountable lead of 31-12.

Back to back treys from Amari Hampton and Taylor Howlett cut the gap down to 13 points, but the Knights could muster just one more basket for the rest of the half and went into the break trailing 37-20.

WP found their shooting touch in the second half, popping in 25 points in the 3rd quarter and improving to 50 percent shooting for the half. Behind 11 points from Kendra Preuninger, the Knights fought back to within eight points (53-45) toward the end of the period, but C of I answered the charge with a three pointer at the quarter buzzer by Haylee Burnham.

In the final stanza, College of Idaho fought off one last charge from the Knights. Preuninger scored consecutive baskets to close the gap down to nine points (60-51), but timely scoring from the host team pushed the their lead back out to 15 points with 1:48 to play.

Preuninger finished with 18 points to led the Knights.
