Knights Complete Road Sweep With Win at Eastern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Warner Pacific won their 3rd game in a row, sliding past Eastern Oregon 88-77 tonight at Quinn Coliseum in La Grande.

The Short Story

After Warner Pacific snatched an early 7-2 advantage, Kalvin Johanson netted 14 points amidst an 18-6 run to put the Mountaineers on top, 20-13, with 13:26 left in the first half.

However the Knights responded with a run of their own, nailing four three pointers - two from Adam Westfall - in a 21-2 burst to claim a 12-point (34-22) advantage at the 6:41 mark of the stanza. Earl Jones scored six straight during the run. EOU rallied to cut the deficit to eight (44-36), but that would be as close as the Mountaineers would get before trailing by 14 (51-37) at the break.

EOU opened the second half with a couple of jumpers by Trell Washington and a pair of triples by senior guard Case Rada to close the gap to four (51-47) with 15:32 left. The Knights came up with clutch baskets when needed however, led by Earl Jones who tossed in 16 points after halftime and finished with 27. Taylor Young added 19 points, including a 4 of 4 effort from the free throw line.

The Knights continued their stellar shooting as a team, connecting on 48 percent of their attempts while holding the Mounties to 36.5 percent. WPC is #1 in the CCC and 3rd in the NAIA for field goal percentage at .512 for the season.
