The Short Story: After a shaky set one loss, Warner Pacific stormed back with three straight set wins to stop Northwest Christian in a Cascade Conference matchup in Portland. Neither team was particularly effective offensively, but WPC put up nine total blocks to help force the visiting Beacons into 31 hitting errors and a .090 attacking percentage. The host Knights were better at .187 percentage thanks in large part to
Janessa White's 17 kills versus just two errors. WPC had its typical free-swinging night from the service line, scoring nine aces along with 12 service errors. NCU managed a single ace for the match. Taylor Burnett led the Beacons with 13 kills, and also added 11 digs in an all-around solid effort.
How it Happened
• WPC managed to build a 13-10 lead in set one, but watched the advantage slip away. NCU fought back to tie the score at 22-22.
• Three straight points closed out the frame for NCU capped by a block at the net from Cassidy Winters and Maci Beierle.
• Set two was all WPC as the Knights raced out to a 15-9 lead.
• After the teams traded points, WP put the frame away with a 6-0 run behind the serving of
Jourdan Wenzinger.
• It was a much closer battle in set three as the score was tied 13 times on the way to a 22-22 stalemate.
• This time it was Warner Pacific who finished off the frame with three straight points, punctuated by an ace from
Kealia Rosa.
• The Knights looked to be on the way to a hard fought win after building an 11-6 lead to start set four.
• NCU had other ideas and went on a 8-1 burst to take a 14-12 lead.
• The home team regrouped however, and three kills down the stretch from
Janessa Mast help WP win the final set 25-20.
