Men's Soccer Falls in OT on Senior Night

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific Men's Soccer team closed out the 2017 season with a 2-1 overtime loss to Northwest Christian on Saturday night.

With no playoff hopes, the Knights were hoping to send their seniors out on a good note. For 78 minutes the plan was taking shape. Artur Pereira scored an early goal for WPC with a well placed free kick from just outside the penalty area, then the Knight defense tried to keep the clean sheet. It wasn't to be as NCU's Zeph Hollins equalized with 12 minutes to play in regulation.

Halfway through the first overtime period, Sanad Elghanai latched on to a loose ball in the box and volleyed home to give the Beacons the win.

The match was chippy at times, with 8 yellow cards issued. The disjointed action on the pitch resulted very few goal scoring chances. NCU finished with eight shots compared to six for the Knights.

Knights seniors Artur Pereira, Harry Pilkington, Erdal Barkay, Caleb Petroski, and Giovanny Monroe were honored before the game.
