WPC Buries Evergreen From Distance

Portland, Ore. – A first half three point barrage from Warner Pacific pushed the Knights past Evergreen tonight at Bart Valentine Court, 94-66. It was the first CCC contest of the year for both teams.

Morris Bethea and Julian Downey opened up from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes, sending the Knights (6-3, 1-0 CCC) to a commanding 52-22 lead at halftime. Bethea hit five of his six tries, while Downey canned four of his six attempts. Collin Malcolm added a trey also, and WP went 10 of 11 from deep for the period. Meanwhile, the visiting Geoducks could not get on track, making just nine of 25 tries from the floor. Jaurence Chisolm tried to keep Evergreen close with 10 points.

The second half was a much more even affair, but the damage was done. The Geoducks connected on 51 percent of their shots in the period, but WPC continued to score also with 10 Knights ticking off points in the scoring column.

Bethea and Xavier Cannefax shared high scoring honors for WP with 15 each. Downey finished with 12 points, and De'Jon Bowman added 9 points and 12 rebounds.

Chisolm led evergreen with 16 points, while Ryan Quigley had a nice second half to finish with 11 points.
